Jacob Wutzke
“One of the most exciting drummers of the new generation” (Pan M 360), Jacob Wutzke is a drummer, bandleader and composer. Noted for his precise technique, open musical spirit and joyful approach to the instrument, he performs regularly both as a leader and as a sideman.
A staple of the jazz scene, he has performed with Caity Gyorgy (recorded on 3 JUNO winning albums), Nick Maclean Quartet (1x JUNO nominee), Jean-Michel Pilc, Ira Coleman, Tevet Sela, Bogdan Gumenyuk, Jocelyn Gould, Benny Benack iii, Anthony D’Alessandro, Bryn Roberts and more. He also regularly tours with his own groups performing original material.
A graduate of Humber College (Bachelor of Music - 2019) and McGill University (Masters in Jazz Performance - 2022), Jacob is well-respected in the music community and can be seen performing at prestigious clubs, halls, and jazz festivals around the globe. He is also a committed music educator and author, having self-published several drum method books that have become essential practice tools for drummers around the world.
Jacob has released 5 albums as a leader — “Double Down” (2026) "Pedalling Falsehoods" (2025), "You Better Bet" (2025), “Take it in Stride” (2024), & “Show Yourself” (2023). His upcoming release “Which Way Is Up?” is due to be released in late 2026.
